As the name suggests, the idea behind National Future Day, is to shape the future. Girls and boys swap roles, discover atypical jobs and areas of life and enjoy experiences that will remain with them for life. Geistlich Pharma joined in by encouraging its employees to bring their children, aged 10-13, to work with them. They gained insights into potential careers with an international pharmaceutical company. The boys and girls started in Wolhusen, which is where Geistlich Pharma's production facilities are based. After a introduction they worked in Quality Assurance and conducted visual checks of Geistlich Bio-Oss®, for example, or prepared the Geistlich Bio-Oss® pen for medical use. They then joined a scientist to investigate a wasp's cells under a microscope. The day ended with a guided tour of Geistlich Pharma's production plant. In the afternoon the children joined their parents at their jobs. Sybille Studer, Geistlich Pharma's HR Manager, said: «We enjoyed having the children here. They were very interested and engaged. Now, of course, we hope that we have whetted their appetites for a career in the pharmaceutical industry.» Geistlich Pharma is already looking forward to National Future Day 2016.
